An estimate: ATI equates real scores across test forms, so your official score can differ by a few points.

How this TEAS calculator works

The ATI TEAS 7 has 170 questions, but only 150 are scored: 39 in Reading, 34 in Math, 44 in Science and 33 in English and Language Usage. The other 20 are unscored pretest questions mixed in, and you can't tell which ones they are. So the calculator divides your correct answers by the scored questions in each section, then adds them up the way ATI's total does: each section counts as much as its number of scored questions (Science about 29%, Reading 26%, Math 23%, English 22%).

ATI then equates total and section scores across test forms — a correction for the difficulty of the version you got — and does not publish the formula. That's why every TEAS calculator gives an estimate. Ours tells you so, and uses only ATI's own numbers: no invented weights, no TEAS 6 section sizes.

Using a practice test? Tick "My practice test had a different number of questions" and type your right answers and the number of questions for each section (a full-length practice test has 45, 38, 50 and 37). We convert each section to a percentage and weigh it like the real exam.

TEAS score questions

How is the TEAS total score calculated?
ATI turns your correct answers on the 150 scored questions into a percentage and then equates it across test forms, so a harder form is not unfair. The result is your Adjusted Individual Total Score. Because ATI does not publish the equating, any calculator — including this one — gives an estimate. How the TEAS is scored.
What is a good TEAS score?
There is no universal passing score: each school sets its own minimum. Many ask for the Proficient level (58.7% or higher, about 88 of 150 correct); competitive programs ask for 70–80%. See the score ranges and the minimums published by 44 schools.
Do the 20 unscored questions count?
No. 20 of the 170 questions are unscored pretest items and you cannot tell which ones they are. This calculator uses the 150 scored questions: 39 Reading, 34 Math, 44 Science and 33 English.
I took a full 170-question practice test. How do I use the calculator?
Tick "My practice test had a different number of questions" and enter your right answers out of 45 (Reading), 38 (Math), 50 (Science) and 37 (English), or whatever your test had. The calculator turns each section into a percentage and weighs it like the real exam.
Is there a penalty for wrong answers?
No. ATI does not penalize guessing, so never leave a question blank: unanswered questions when time runs out count as wrong. There is no partial credit, including on select-all-that-apply questions.
Can I use a calculator on the TEAS?
Yes: a basic on-screen calculator (add, subtract, multiply, divide, percent, square root, memory) is available in every section. Personal calculators are not allowed.
How soon can I retake the TEAS?
ATI itself sets no waiting period between attempts; your school decides how many attempts it accepts and how far apart. Each retake costs the full fee. Retakes, results and cost.
